First day of VLocity operations - Ballarat line launchDecember 22, 2005 18:28 PM December 22nd 2005 was the entry of V/Line's new VLocity trains into revenue service. I managed to catch the 1406 service to Ballarat, and the 1629 service from Ballarat. In this collection I've got pictures of the VLocity arriving at Southern Cross Station, for the first time with paying passengers on board, as well as the services that I travelled on. |

Hitachi transfer - January 2009January 18, 2009 15:37 PM El Zorro took CFCLA liveried T369 out light engine from Dynon to Ballarat to pick up a refurbished Hitachi set from Alstom's North Ballarat Workshops. The set was 23M-2007T-233M + 9M-1919T-144M and was taken to Newport Workshops |

Mildura freightSeptember 23, 2011 10:42 AM The Mildura freight runs from Merbein (just north of the town) to Melbourne and return for Wakefield Transport. The train is made up of standard and refrigerated containers, as well as a small amount of cement loading. Until recent years oil tankers, louvred vans and LCL containers were also attached to the train. |

Steamrail - Y112 Geelong shuttles - April 2011April 17, 2011 21:49 PM T356, Y112 and D3 639 ran shuttles around Geelong on April 16th and 17th. The diesel was only used on the first morning, Y112 having run light engine from Ballarat for the occasion. |

V/Line - Maryborough line launchJuly 25, 2010 19:58 PM V/Line services to Maryborough were officially launched on Saturday July 24, with VLocities VL34 and VL38 running special trains on the day, and Premier John Brumby and Public Transport Minister Martin Pakula there for the opening ceremonies. |

XTrapolis transfer - April 2011April 03, 2011 13:48 PM Y168 and a power van transferred brand new XTrapolis set 81-82M and 83M-84M from Ballarat to Newport via North Geelong, one of the newly assembled sets at the United Group Rail workshops. Y168 is the current Ballarat Workshops shunter, having taken over from Y145 a few weeks earlier. |

XTrapolis transfer - August 2009August 29, 2009 12:02 PM T357 hauled 6 car XTrapolis 893M/894M and 955M/956M from Newport Workshops to the United Group workshops at Ballarat, a GVDY guards van with generator also went along to power the auxiliaries of the suburban set. T357 and Y145 had brought the van to Melbourne the night before |

XTrapolis transfer - February 2010February 28, 2010 21:27 PM T413 transferred brand new XTrapolis set 5M-1303T-6M and 7M-1304T-8M from Ballarat to Newport. So new that it had no identifying marks (other than 'unit 3' and 'unit 4' taped in the windows) the set had been taken directly from the docks to Alstom Ballarat to fix up the floor, the interior fitout was also carried out. |
