After their withdrawal from suburban service in Melbourne, four 3-car Hitachi sets were stored unsecured in the open at the Bendigo North Workshops. In 2006 stripped of parts, and with broken windows and covered with graffiti, they were moved back to Melbourne by El Zorro using Y145 and S302 in the middle of the night of August 30th. Here they are upon arrival the next morning at Newport Workshops. |

Road Transferable LocomotiveApril 26, 2009 10:17 AM
Back in the 1990s V/Line acquired a single Road Transferable Locomotive, capable of hauling a number of rail wagons, then heading off by road to the next job. Freight Australia repainted it and used it for a number of years, putting it into storage at South Dynon around 2004, and then pulling bits off it by 2009. The rego plate is MVORTL, white on green "Victoria on the Move". |

S302 has been recently repaired by SSR Bendigo for El Zorro, it was also repainted in their orange and grey livery. It was transferred to Seymour via Melbourne with T342 |

Originally situated under the Melbourne Yard 'Hump' it was used for training shunters in coupling wagons, it was moved to outside the Melbourne Steel Terminal and repainted in 2008 |

A number of Melbourne's Siemens trains were withdrawn from service in 20007 due to braking issues. The Werribee line between Newport and Laverton was used to test the affected sets. The test procedure involved spraying soapy water onto the rails to confirm the operation of the brakes. |
