To celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Geelong Ballarat rail line opening, a special charter train ran from Geelong to Ballarat and return on 10th April 2012. Steamrail's T364 led the train, which included carriages 1BCE, 3ABE and 7ABE

'Rotten Road' at the Newport Workshops in Melbourne is located beside the Geelong railway line, and is full of heritage rolling stock stored in the open. In 2008 Victrack has started to scrap the stuff which is falling apart.

SRHC ran shuttles north from Seymour with T357 and T413, while Steamrail ran a train from Melbourne to Seymour with R761. After their arrival T413 was replaced on the shuttles by R761.

Recently repaired R761 took 5 cars on a driver training run from Melbourne to Ballarat - via Geelong on Saturday 12th, and back via Bacchus Marsh on Sunday 13th

R707 and R761 lead a 10 car train from Melbourne to Bendigo and return, connecting with a special train on the Victorian Goldfields Railway at Castlemaine. The train ran arrived back in Melbourne an hour early, skipping the timetabled crosses after V/Line cancelled most of their trains due to a power failure in Melbourne.

V/Line's P18 was the loco with a mix of steel and wooden carriages. The hired loco was used because of signalling issues on the Geelong line preventing any non-TPWS fitted locomotives from using the line while normal passenger services were also running

Steamrail ran their 'Last Steam to Albury' tour on June 14, 2008 with R761 up front, with D3 658 assisting to Seymour. The photos are from Heathcote Junction in the morning all the way until the eventual 2 am cancellation at Seymour.

It left late, lost it's path, arrived late at Albury, got put away at Wangaratta for 2 hours, and almost made it back to Seymour when it came to a halt. The train crawled into Seymour at 2 am and was cancelled due to a lack of signallers along the line, the passengers travelling onward on buses. By 3:30 am they well all gone, the carriages stabled in the yard, the loco places in the SRHC depot where their fires were dropped.
