The most boring airshow for V/Line ever: VLocities ran the majority of services. Only one hauled push-pull set ran, with a pair of N classes it only ran one return trip on Saturday and one return trip on Sunday.

In May 20006 VSH22 and FSH21 were involved in a shunting accident at the Dudley Street carriage yards. BCH122 was pushed into BCH121. The first pics are from about 10pm (the incident happened some time before then) and then the rest are later on at 1pm after the re-railing was complete. The final photos are after the collision repairs.

December 22, 2005 18:28 PM

December 22nd 2005 was the entry of V/Line's new VLocity trains into revenue service. I managed to catch the 1406 service to Ballarat, and the 1629 service from Ballarat. In this collection I've got pictures of the VLocity arriving at Southern Cross Station, for the first time with paying passengers on board, as well as the services that I travelled on.

By 2006 there were only three BS type carriages in revenue service with V/Line, and as the year continued all except BS 217.were put into storage. By July BS 217 was to be taken out of service, with the last run being on a down Albury train, terminated short at Seymour for trackwork. As it turns out, by September 2007 all five BS cars were brought back into service, as set SN7

January 13, 2006 22:39 PM

S302 was bought by West Coast Railway soon after they were formed, and ran with them for a number of years. After their demise it was purchased by V/Line, who continued to use it on the midday Warrnambool train, where it was often replaced by an N class. S302 made her last run on January 13, 2006 after which it was put into storage. It was subsequently sold to El Zorro who operate it today

Sprinter railcars are self propelled, but can be hauled by locomotives through the use of a special transition coupler. Here two broken down Sprinters were in the platform - 7002 and 7008, along with N453 waiting to take them away. The EDI rail guys had a bit of difficulty getting the transition coupler to fit - necessary because of the different coupler types

The Stony Point line is an orphan on the Melbourne suburban network, being an isolated shuttle service without electrification. A class diesel locomotives hauling MTH carriages were the usual consist for a decade until replaced by Sprinter railcars in 2008. Train running the service run empty cars between Frankston and Southern cross for maintenance

V/Line - Maryborough line launch

July 25, 2010 19:58 PM

V/Line services to Maryborough were officially launched on Saturday July 24, with VLocities VL34 and VL38 running special trains on the day, and Premier John Brumby and Public Transport Minister Martin Pakula there for the opening ceremonies.

The train carried passengers from Melbourne as far as Ballarat, then took invited guests to Creswick, where an opening ceremony for the new station was held. Locals were allowed to catch the train to Maryborough where another opening ceremony was held. Five shuttle trips were run between Maryborough and the 214 km post for the locals (originally six were planned) before VL38 headed back to Melbourne, VL34 stabled to run the first up service the next day.

Over the weekend of October 2 and 3 V/Line ran a huge number of extra trains between Geelong and Melbourne for the 2010 UCI Road World Championships. The event turned out to be a bit of a fizzer: trains were still running every 10 minutes at peak times, but only 4 of the 6 originally scheduled push-pull sets ran (three with P classes, and one with N classes). The traffic disruptions in Geelong were so bad, the next person to propose Geelong hold an event like this will get tomatoes thrown at them in the Market Square Mall.
