On the evening of 19 October 2021 newly completed HCMT set 34 was transferred from Newport Workshops to the depot at Pakenham East behind hired Steamrail diesel locomotives T395 and T364 and power van BVDY51. The locomotives and power van arrived at Newport the day before.
