Steamrail - Suburban shuttles March 2018

25 March 2018

On March 25, 2018 Steamrail took their restored Tait set behind steam locomotives A2 986 and K153 for a trip around the Melbourne suburbs. A total of six trips were run out of Flinders Street, to Sunshine, Essendon and Caulfield.

Steamrail - Tocumwal March 2013

9 March 2013

On March 9, 2013 Steamrail ran a a 11 car train from Melbourne to Tocumwal and return with locomotives S303 and S313. The entire down trip was a few hours late, the train having been timetabled by V/Line into platform 3 at Southern Cross where two S classes cannot fit! After all of the extra shunting was required, V/Line decided that a 40 minute window before the down Shepparton departed was not enough, so we got held until their departure at 0914.

R761 lead R707 to Bendigo with a train 11 car long train, connecting at Castlemaine for a VGR train.

Steamrail - Warrnambool Westcoaster 2019

12 October 2019

On 12 October 2019 Steamrail ran their 'Warrnambool Westcoaster' tour from Southern Cross to Warrnambool via Regional Rail Link. Steam locomotive R711 and diesel S313 led the train, made up of carriages PCP 292, 11 AS, 5 AS, Hobsons Bay (269 BZ), Moorabool, 8 AS, 14 BRS, 2 BS, and 600BK.

On April 27, 2013 Steamrail ran a 'Western Rambler' tour, with K153 leading T413. It ran from Newport to Sunbury via Sunshine, on to Southern Cross via Brooklyn and the Bunbury Street tunnel, up to Broadmeadows, back to Southern Cross then to Flemington Racecourse, and finally up to Upfield then back to Newport.

Steamrail - whY not Suburban Tour

17 November 2019

On 17 November 2019 T356 led the 'whY not Suburban Tour' from Southern Cross Station to Somerton and Werribee via Sunshine, Essendon and the Bunbury Street Tunnel. Originally intended to be hauled by Y class steam locomotive Y112, it was a late scratching due to mechanical problems. The train was made up of carriages 600BK, 14BRS, 67BW, 64AW, 7ABE, and 1BCE.

Steamrail - Williamstown shuttles 2012

On April 29 Steamrail ran a shuttle train between Williamstown and Flinders Street Station for the 2012 Williamstown Festival. K153 and K190 were used push-pull with a five car train, running four return trips.

Steamrail - Wycheproof Weekender October 2008

12 October 2008

Steamrail ran a weekender tour from Melbourne to Wycheproof, leaving on Friday night with R761, T356 and S301 and arriving on Saturday morning. The train stabled at Wycheproof station, with S301 taking the train home on Sunday. The train ran early until Maryborough, where it had to wait for the proper departure time. It ran back via the straight, the photos are from Sunday, between Wycheproof and Bacchus Marsh.

On August 21 and 22 2010 Steamrail run steam shuttles out of Ballarat, using K153 and Y112 push-pull on a rake of timber bodied BW carriages.

Steamrail - Y112 Geelong shuttles, April 2011

T356, Y112 and D3 639 ran shuttles around Geelong on April 16th and 17th. The diesel was only used on the first morning, Y112 having run light engine from Ballarat for the occasion.

On 7 November 2015 Y112 was transferred from Ballarat East to Newport Workshops for repairs, travelling via North Geelong and the new Regional Rail Link tracks.

Steamrail - Y Class Shunters Tour 2020

On 8 February 2020 Steamrail Victoria ran their 'Y Class Shunters Tour' around Melbourne. The tour started at Newport, with Y164 being joined by V/Line shunter Y163 at Southern Cross Station, then running to Werribee, Westall and Maddingley, before returning to Southern Cross and Newport.

Steamranger runs trains trains on the broad gauge Mount Barker - Goolwa - Victor Harbor railway line. The 'Cockle Train' runs regularly on the Goolwa - Victor Harbor section, their main depot is at Mount Barker.

Sydney Tramway Museum

Located south of Sydney at Loftus, the museum has an extensive collection of trams from Sydney, other cities in Australia, plus a few from elsewhere in the world. It operates two lengths of track: one heading 1.5 km towards Sutherland, the other heading 2 km into the Royal National Park.

TMSV - Footscray tour 2012

On March 24, 2012 the Tramway Museum Society Of Victoria chartered Z3.185 in the Royal Tram livery to run a tram to commemorate the closure of the Footscray tramways.

The route was Brunswick Depot > Lygon Street > Franklin Street > Victoria Street > Royal Park > Showgrounds Loop > Footscray > Moonee Ponds > West Maribyrnong > Ascot Vale > Haymarket > Flagstaff Station > Footscray Road > Melbourne Central Station > Franklin Street > Victoria Street> Sydney Road > Brunswick Depot.

Transport Heritage Expo 2017

Between 10-12 June 2017 the NSW Transport Heritage Expo was held at Central Station, featuring heritage trains on display, as well as rides on steam, diesel, and electric rolling stock.

Z class 'Ruby Jubilee' tour

On November 14, 2015 trams Z1.22 and Z2.101 travelled around Melbourne to celebrate 40 years of Z class trams in Melbourne. The tour commenced at Malvern Depot and visited St Kilda Road, Brunswick Depot, West Maribyrnong, Moonee Ponds, Melbourne Docklands, and a lunch break at Hawthorn Depot. Followed by travel to East Preston, Preston Depot, St Kilda, East Malvern, then returning to Malvern Depot.
