Long Island steel train

The Long Island steel train serves the BHP mill at Hastings, south of Frankston. The steel is transferred from broad to standard gauge trains at the Melbourne Freight Terminal at South Dynon. In 2015 this facility replaced the Melbourne Steel Terminal, just west of North Melbourne station.

Wagons for the broad gauge steel train stabled in Tottenham Yard

Following the closure of the Melbourne Steel Terminal, South Dynon is now used for transhipping steel traffic to Long Island, but doesn't have enough room to store any wagons, so they are now parked at Tottenham Yard
