Melbourne tram stops

Tram stops around Melbourne fall into three groups: platform stops, safety zones, and signs beside the road.

Plaque marking the dedication of the Sir Robert Risson tram terminus on Elizabeth Street

Unveiled by Minister for Public Transport Alan Brown in February 1994. Mounted in the tram stop paving, today it hides beneath an advertising panel.

New countdown timer for southbound trams at the Federation Square tram stop

It starts counting down from 16 seconds: once it gets to zero, the traffic lights change about 5 seconds later. Presumably it indicates when a tram driver should close their doors.
