On September 26, 2013 a tree took out the mains power supply to Newmarket station, plunging the platforms into darkness, but not affecting traction power to trains or signalling systems.

With the mains power out at Newmarket, a contractor jerry rigs a petrol generator up to the switchboard

It appears they are trying to get a subset of platform lights going, not the Myki equipment
