However if a tram stops with the pantograph resting in the middle of a section insulator, getting the tram moving again is hard work!

Buses from Dysons Group and Sita Buslines were 'wet leased' to fill the gaps, with Transdev drivers directing drivers on the 'foreign' routes. 'Dry leasing' soon followed, with Transdev drivers in charge of the foreign buses, with Kastoria and Mitchell Transit also supplying vehicles.

In April 2010 accident damaged diesel locomotive NR51 was transferred to the UGL workshops at Spotswood, after being damaged in a February 2009 derailment on the Trans-Australian line. Unsafe 'safety' zone in Ascot Vale

October 14, 2014

Located on Epsom Road at Flemington Drive in Ascot Vale, stop 30 on route 57 seems to get wiped out by dimwitted drivers a few times a year. Southbound traffic is required to slew sideways to avoid a right turn lane, which seems to be too hard for some drivers, who plow straight into the safety zone fence.

Rostered on a return weekday run to Geelong, the set was recoded SZ7 in March 2009 following the replacement of carriage ACN21 with BCZ257. The set remained in service until August 2010, when the delivery of additional VLocity trains enabled it to be retired.

V/Line - UCI bike specials 2010

October 03, 2010

Over the weekend of October 2 and 3 V/Line ran a huge number of extra trains between Geelong and Melbourne for the 2010 UCI Road World Championships. The event turned out to be a bit of a fizzer: trains were still running every 10 minutes at peak times, but only 4 of the 6 originally scheduled push-pull sets ran (three with P classes, and one with N classes). The traffic disruptions in Geelong were so bad, the next person to propose Geelong hold an event like this will get tomatoes thrown at them in the Market Square Mall.

March 30, 2018

In January 2016 a large proportion of the V/Line VLocity fleet was withdrawn from service due to wheel wear issues, and a few days later they were banned from operations on the suburban network due to level crossing activation issues.

Following the opening of Regional Rail Link for Geelong line services in June 2015, V/Line commenced operating rail cleaning trains on the old route between Werribee and Little River, in order to keep the rail heads free of rust for correct signal and level crossing operation.
