707 Operations - Tastes of the Goulburn, 2019

707 Operations ran a special train from Melbourne to Seymour and return on 19 October 2018 to transport passengers to the 'Tastes of the Goulburn' festival in Seymour. R707, H5 and T392 led the train, with carriages VAM 1, PCP 294, ACZ 255, BZ 270, BRS 224, CLUB 1, BS 205, BS 212, JTA 6, BK 708, Moorabool and D318 in the consist.

8114 derailed at South Dynon, August 2012

On August 22, 2012 Pacific National locomotive 8114 derailed outside the Melbourne Operations Terminal at South Dynon. Only a short distance off the rails, it was moved back onto the tracks with the use of timber blocks.

Automatic rail lubricators

Automatic rail lubricators are used to apply grease to the running rails, avoiding wheel wear on sharp curves. Traditionally mechanical 'grease pots' were used for this purpose, but require frequent maintenance and apply grease in an inaccurate manner. Modern replacements are powered units, which use trackside sensors to pump out grease only when required.
