Surrey Hills level crossing removal replacement buses

During 2022 the Lilydale and Belgrave lines have been closed between Camberwell and Box Hill, buses replacing trains while the level crossings at Mont Albert Road, Mont Albert and Union Road, Surrey Hills are being removed by lowing the tracks, along with the two stations being replaced by the new 'Union Station' in the middle.

In 2019 the conversion of the T3 Bankstown Line to form part of the Sydney Metro City & Southwest line commenced. Tracks, stations and signals will be upgraded between Bankstown and Sydenham, where the existing railway will connect to new tunnels towards the Sydney CBD.

On 13 June July 2019 T400 and S306 were dead transferred between G541 and G527 from the scrap row at South Dynon, to Newport Workshops. S306 is now preserved with 707 Operations, but T400 was stripped of parts, then returned to South Dynon for scrapping.

In 2011 retired tram SW6.969 was converted into a bar and setup at the Arts Centre in Melbourne, being removed a number of times, only to return again come summer. In February 2013 it appeared again as 'Tram Bar', which closed for good in January 2015.

The network of overhead wires used to power trams are divided into multiple electrical sections, so that faults can be isolated and maintenance work completed in safety. However if a tram stops with the pantograph resting in the middle of a section insulator, getting the tram moving again is hard work!

In mid September 2017 Transport Safety Victoria and VicRoads completed an audit of the Transdev Melbourne fleet of buses. Initially 33 buses at two depots were removed from service due to defects, with 100+ buses eventually being taken off the road once all depots had been visited. Buses from Dysons Group and Sita Buslines were 'wet leased' to fill the gaps, with Transdev drivers directing drivers on the 'foreign' routes. 'Dry leasing' soon followed, with Transdev drivers in charge of the foreign buses, with Kastoria and Mitchell Transit also supplying vehicles.
Transfer of accident damaged NR51, April 2010

In April 2010 accident damaged diesel locomotive NR51 was transferred to the UGL workshops at Spotswood, after being damaged in a February 2009 derailment on the Trans-Australian line. The prime mover inside had been removed, the brakes piped through, and the cab shrink wrapped with plastic. The first stage of the transfer was dead attached to PW4 freight, with the final leg from South Dynon to Spotswood requiring eight other NR classes to assist.
