Over five days over the Anzac Day break there was a shutdown for Regional Rail Link related works at Viaduct Junction. April 26 was a normal workday but with limited platforms available at Southern Cross Station, resulting in all kinds of delays.

V/Line - 'Last' A class services, April 2013

With the April 2013 timetable change, V/Line changed their working timetable to remove the need for their A class fleet to haul any passenger trains. The last service was supported to be the up Bacchus Marsh on April 26, 2013 - but both A66 and A70 were brought back into service in 2014, with A66 then allocated a regular weekday return trip to Bacchus Marsh in 2015.

On March 9, 2013 Steamrail ran a a 11 car train from Melbourne to Tocumwal and return with locomotives S303 and S313. The entire down trip was a few hours late, the train having been timetabled by V/Line into platform 3 at Southern Cross where two S classes cannot fit! After all of the extra shunting was required, V/Line decided that a 40 minute window before the down Shepparton departed was not enough, so we got held until their departure at 0914.

Where trams turn corners, there are yellow lines painted along the road so that cars know to keep clear. This bloke at the corner of Victoria and Errol Streets in North Melbourne didn't pay attention to them, which resulted in Z3.205 ripping off the rear quarter panel off his van.

On October 21, 2012 Steamrail relaunched steam locomotive R711 into service, hauling a seven car to Bendigo for the 150th anniversary of the line opening. T364 went along push-pull for the empty cars ride between Newport and Southern Cross, reversing at Sunshine due to an occupation on the line via Yarraville
X'Trapolis transfer, October 2005

The Connex X'Trapolis EMU fleet required a number of modifications that were carried out at the Ballarat Workshops. Set 925M-1663T-926M + 919M-1660T-920M was transferred from Ballarat to Bayswater (via Geelong) with T377 as the motive power, with power van ZVDY 52 attached to the rear

R707 and R761 lead a 10 car train from Melbourne to Bendigo and return, connecting with a special train on the Victorian Goldfields Railway at Castlemaine. Along the way we were overtaken by a trio of PN locos headed towards Elphinstone to rescue a failed grain train.
