V/Line - Maryborough line launch

V/Line services to Maryborough were officially launched on Saturday July 24, with VLocities VL34 and VL38 running special trains on the day, and Premier John Brumby and Public Transport Minister Martin Pakula there for the opening ceremonies.
The train carried passengers from Melbourne as far as Ballarat, then took invited guests to Creswick, where an opening ceremony for the new station was held. Locals were allowed to catch the train to Maryborough where another opening ceremony was held. Five shuttle trips were run between Maryborough and the 214 km post for the locals (originally six were planned) before VL38 headed back to Melbourne, VL34 stabled to run the first up service the next day.

Coolaroo station construction and opening day

Located between Broadmeadows and Roxburgh Park, the railway station at Coolaroo was constructed separately from the rest of the Craigieburn electrification project that was completed in 2007. As a result it did not opening to passengers until 6 June 2010.
Malvern tram depot centenary

Malvern Depot celebrated its centenary on 30 May 2010 when it hosted a function to commemorate the opening of the Prahran and Malvern Tramways Trust on 30 May 1910. Former P&MTT trams 44 and 84 were brought from Bendigo for the occasion with 44 running several special trips between the depot and Dandenong Road.

In 2010 Pacific National started to clear out the multitudes of stored wagons at Tottenham Yard and selling them for scrap. A dozen or so at a time are being dragged at 20 km/h to Brooklyn, where they are being pushing into the VR tip siding to be cut up.

Down Craigieburn service with 570M-T-M + 309M-T-M ran up the back of the down empty Apex train which was stopped at a signal outside Craigieburn station. 570M-T-M received most of the damage and needed to be cut apart; 309M-T-M was shunted off by T402 and taken to Broadmeadows as a complete train.

X'Trapolis transfer, February 2010

T413 transferred brand new X'Trapolis set 5M-1303T-6M and 7M-1304T-8M from Ballarat to Newport, along with the usual power van ZVDY 52. So new that it had no identifying marks (other than 'unit 3' and 'unit 4' taped in the windows) the set had been taken directly from the docks to Alstom Ballarat to fix up the floor, the interior fitout was also carried out.

X'Trapolis 863M-1632T-864M-897M-1649T-898M was stickered into the new 'Metro' livery for the first day. Held on platform 1 at Flinders Street Station, Premier John Brumby and Transport Minister Lynne Kosky were in attendance, along with MTM management. The train left late because the media were interviewing the politicians, but they ended up being left behind.
