On May 16, 2015 R761 and K190 lead a heritage train from Melbourne to Bendigo, with K190 being detached at Castlemaine on the return journey, and exchanged with D3 639 from the Victorian Goldfields Railway.

Kew Depot celebrated its centenary on 3 May 2015. W2.431 was on display after being transported by road from the Melbourne Tram Museum at Hawthorn Depot, with W8.946 running shuttle trips to Victoria Gardens, restaurant tram SW6.935 was open for morning tea, with E.6005, C.3031 and A2.283 on display.

The Albion-Jacana railway line links the Bendigo line near Sunshine to the main North-East line near Broadmeadows via a slow and indirect route. Normally used by freight services, V/Line occasionally diverts Seymour and Shepparton services via the route when the normal route via Essendon is blocked.

In 2011 retired tram SW6.969 was converted into a bar and setup at the Arts Centre in Melbourne, being removed a number of times, only to return again come summer. In February 2013 it appeared again as 'Tram Bar', which closed for good in January 2015.

On January 24, 2015 B74 and T413 took a train from Melbourne to Dunolly, running via Bacchus Marsh on the way there and via North Geelong on the way home. Carriages PCP294, ACZ255, BZ270, BS205, BRS224, BS212, Avoca, AS11, SJ284, JTA6 were in the consist.

In the lead up to the 2014 Victorian state election, Denis Napthine promised to make tram travel free in the Melbourne CBD. The Liberal Government lost the election, but the Labor Party matched the promise, so in January 2015 PTV had to spend a bucketload of money promoting something that cost them even more money.

In May 2013 Premier Denis Napthine announced the $100 million 'Bayside Rail Project' to upgrade the Frankston railway line, and bring X'Trapolis trains to the route. Two token services run by X'Trapolis trains being introduced just before the 2014 State Election, with the cost of the project blowing out to $115 million.

On August 22 2014 an empty VLocity train (VL05-12-39, 7 cars) ran into the rear of a Metro Trains service between Galvin and Paisley on the Werribee line.
Lachlan Valley Railway is based in the New South Wales Central Western town of Cowra, but after the closure of the Demondrille to Cowra line in 2009, their fleet has been moved Cootamundra.

B75 and T386 transferred an accident damaged VLocity set VL12 to Bendigo on November 4, 2014. The set was involved in an incident on August 22 2014, when empty VLocity train (VL05-12-39, 7 cars) ran into the rear of a Metro Trains service between Galvin and Paisley on the Werribee line.
