'K183' is statically preserved at Yarragon - but is actually a renumbered K162

New V/Line Mk4 livery

In conjunction with the launch of a more 'reliable' V/Line Albury service, N457 was repainted into a new PTV branded livery, along with power van PCJ492 and newly refurbished carriage set SN8.

NSW TrainLink intercity services

NSW TrainLink operates intercity services approximately 200 kilometres from Sydney, bounded by Dungog in the north. Scone in the north-west, Bathurst to the west, Goulburn in the south-west and Bomaderry to the south. Before the 2013 restructure of RailCorp, these services fell under the CityRail brand

V/Line - Pacific National rescue failed a Warrnambool service, August 2006

On the morning of August 02, 2006 N452 failed at Warrnambool when it was supposed to lead the up morning service, so A81 was pulled off the freight and used to rescue the train. A79 was then sent back to Warrnambool to bring the freight back that night.

Bayswater level crossing removal project

In 2016/17 two level level crossings on the Belgrave line were removed - Mountain Highway and Scoresby Road, with Bayswater station also being rebuilt

Gauge converting PHAY wagons

In December 2016 Qube Logistics obtained a number of PHAY hopper wagons from South Australia for use on the Apex quarry train in Victoria. Originally running on standard gauge, bogies from WGSY grain wagons were used to convert them to broad gauge. Additional wagons arrived in February 2017.

Infrastructure Evaluation Vehicle IEV102 transfer, January 2017

Metro Trains Melbourne's Infrastructure Evaluation Vehicle IEV102 developed a brake issue in December 2016, with the T-IEV-T consist having having to be transferred back to Melbourne behind B76 and B80. In January IEV102 was transferred to Bendigo behind B76 and B80, with six freight wagons (BODX 2301C, BQCX 2202B, BQIX 2461D, IEV 102, BQCX 2201P, BQIX 2459V and BODX 2460V) along for the ride to counteract the unbraked carriage.

Fire damaged Sprinter 7012, December 2016

On December 2, 2016 Sprinter 7012 caught fire at Seymour station, with a fault in the electrical cabinet believed to be the cause. The damaged train was transferred to Melbourne the next day.

Y129 derailment at Southern Cross, January 2017

January 10, 2017

On January 3, 2017 Y129 derailed Southern Cross Station, while shunting around with the carriage yards with an N class locomotive. It was rerailed with the assistance of a heavy lift crane.

8114 derailed at South Dynon, August 2012

August 22, 2012

On August 22, 2012 Pacific National locomotive 8114 derailed outside the Melbourne Operations Terminal at South Dynon. Only a short distance off the rails, it was moved back onto the tracks with the use of timber blocks.
